After bursting onto the scene back in 2016 for both club and country it seemed as though the future would be very bright for young Emre Mor, however, after failing to impress at Borussia Dortmund and now struggling at La Liga outfit Celta Vigo, the question now stands of what will become of this talented youngster.

In Denmark, proudly wearing the colors of FC Nordsjaelland is where the young Turk began his career. After signing for the club in 2015, still only 18, the forward was soon given his full debut for the Danish side, and not long after the rising star was sold to Dortmund for a fee in the region of £5m.
The 2016/17 season for the German giants was a somewhat successful one as they won the DFB Pokal, and finished third in the league, however, for Mor it was a season to forget. With the likes of Ousmane Dembele and USA international Christian Pulisic higher up in the pecking order, Mor found game time hard to come by and when given the opportunity the youngster could only show glimpses of his immense talent.
Still only 19, it was clear to see why Mor could not progress to the next level and become the player that everyone expected him to be. The ability of the boy was never in question, the only issue was his mentality.
With a low centre of gravity and unbelievable ability to beat a man, Mor never truly grasped the concept of football being a team game. In the majority of his 15 appearances for the club, Mor seemed to always be trying too hard, trying to beat everyone and do something special with the ball in every instance. This issue, along with a hot-headed temper which culminated in a petulant sending off against Hertha Berlin, meant that Mor became the third choice and was soon shown the door.
Now plying his trade at Celta Vigo, the problems that first arose in Germany seem to still hinder the Turk's progress. The most striking example of this was in December of last year when youth team player Brais Mendez was used instead of Mor while main man Iago Aspas was sidelined.
Celta boss Juan Carlos Unzue stated that Mendez was chosen over Mor due to the Turkish international's mentality. Unzue went on to claim that Mor's ability isn't enough to earn him a place in the starting line-up and that he must change his view of the game and become more of a team player if he wants to become a regular fixture in the starting line-up.

Since the public lashing from his manager, Mor has featured more regularly for Celta in the past few months and has shown glimpses of the player that was once tipped to be the next big thing.
Only time will tell if Mor will become the player that we anticipated him to be, and for the player himself he will be hoping to fulfill his potential in the coming years and not become a player who could have been something special.
